On August 8, Ghana Armed Forces Council members met with Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang to examine issues related to the catastrophic helicopter crash that killed eight people.
High-ranking government officials and military people were involved in the Wednesday, August 6 disaster. The victims were travelling to a mining event when the tragedy occurred in the Ashanti Region’s Adansi Akrofuom District.
The Council and other government representatives visited the family of the late Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, to offer their condolences, the Vice President said in a message posted on her Instagram page.
“The Council and other government officials paid a visit to our late colleague, the Minister for Defence, after the meeting to show our support for his family during this extremely trying time,” she wrote.
She also called for peace and solidarity at this time of national mourning and offered her sincere condolences to the families of all the victims.
“We pray for strength, comfort, and peace during this time of national mourning and offer our deepest condolences to the bereaved families,” she continued.

Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, and MP for Tamale Central
Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator
Dr. Samuel Sarpong, National Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)
Samuel Aboagye, a former parliamentary candidate
Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala
Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu
Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah
